StageXChange
StageXChange is our new programme for youth groups.
We aim to inspire creative work and increase understanding of the theatrical process, nurturing a realistic sence of what creative careers involve. StageXChange will also build bridges with the community by bringing artists back into the youth group setting, to mentor group leaders in a relationship which can continue beyond the initial project.
Programme Format:
- The leader defines each project's aims. They may need support for a production, seel to develop specific creative abilities such as writing a production, seek to develop creative abilities such as writing, performance or design, or want to explore theatre skills in general.
- They will also choose a play or musical to serve as the project's inspiration. We can offer best seats to London's top productions at £5.00 each instead of approximately £45.00 (leaders feel that some financial contribution increases commitment).
- The practictioner will then lead a minimum of two two-and-a-half hour workshops in the community. They could be a director, designer, actor, writer or technical artist. We select and train artists who have both expertise in their field and experience/aptitude in leading education work.
- Between sessions, young people will work on activities set by the practitioner
For some, although not immediately evident, this trip will have an impact that will last throughout their life - Youth Worker, Castlecombe Youth Centre
