WriteThinking
WriteThinking raises KS 3/4 students' awareness of citizenship issues through a playwriting programme that helps them to find their own literary voice.
Working with professional playwrights and actors, students learn the craft of playwriting and try their hand at writing a 10 minute 'play' about issues that are of interest to them, stimulated by a theatre visit to an issue-based play and a workshop with trainers from The Citizenship Foundation.
The programme is a joint initiative with writernet and The Citizenship Foundation, and includes:
- A full day INSET
- A resource pack with plenty of ideas to get the student writers started
- A series of 8-10 workshops with playwrights, citizenship 'trainers' and actors
- A performance (rehearsed reading) of a selection of the finished 'plays', critiqued by a panel of professional writers and actors.
- Next available: Summer Term 2008
- Cost: £300 for education programme, plus £5 per theatre ticket
