TheatreOpeners

Our programme for mainstream secondary schools offers:

  • Tickets at only £8.00 each
  • A choice of top quality theatre productions
  • Question and Answer session with members of the cast and/or production team, when available
  • The chance to apply for 90 minute Insight workshops prior to the show (more info below)

The programme involves around 5,000 young people a year, and teachers can choose from a broad selection of top productions.

“What an experience! The students explored and created movement sequences which the actors had learnt for the production. For many of the group it was their first theatre trip so this was an extra special treat. They loved every minute of it!” Teacher, Park High School, Let The Right One In at The Apollo Theatre

These 90-minute sessions take place before some of the matinee performances of theatreopeners. Designed as participatory masterclasses rather than workshops, Insights offer a first-hand insight into the processes of creating and staging a theatre production.

A fabulous experience for the students; it was the first time most of them had been to the theatre. The theatre tour and insight session allowed them to ‘feel’ part of the production.” Teacher, Addington High School, Oh What a Lovely War at the Theatre Royal Stratford East
