Sister Act's Star Turn for Mousetrap

On Monday, 1st June, 170 friends of Mousetrap Theatre Projects attended a special evening at the London Palladium to see the new musical, Sister Act, and support our work with Special Needs Schools.

The evening led off with a festive Pimms Reception in the beautiful Cinderella Bar.  Following the performance, with champagne in hand, guests watched a short film on our work with pupils with special needs – focusing on The Lion King matinee and an in-school workshop at Tuke School in Southwark.

Lord Dalmeny of Sotheby’s then auctioned some fantastic theatre-related items, including sponsorship of one of our Special Needs Schools’ programmes, with his usual aplomb and great humour. We were delighted that the stars of the show were able to join us briefly at the reception where guests were treated to canapés and further champagne, before leaving with a special gift from Polo Ralph Lauren.

The event raised more than £38,000 to support Theatre Journeys for Special Needs Schools for 2009 – 2010. We hope to reach 2,000 young people with learning and physical disabilities, offering exceptional access to top theatre and free in-school workshops for young people who rarely take part in cultural activities. Thank you to everyone who attended the Gala, donated and bid in the auction – we are most appreciative of your support.

Special thanks to our sponsor Polo Ralph Lauren and to everyone at the London Palladium who made it such a special evening for all of us.
