Gulliver's Travels: Relaxed Performance

Gulliver’s Travels: Relaxed Performance

An adventure-filled modern adaptation of Jonathan Swift’s surreal masterpiece

Lemuel Gulliver sails away to a world of strange islands and even stranger creatures – from the tiny inhabitants of Lilliput, to the giants of Brobdingnag, and the mysterious Houyhnhnms - and embarks upon an epic adventure of survival, unexpected friendship and self-discovery.

Gulliver’s fantastical imaginings are vividly brought to life using video camera, intricate table-top sets and projection alongside live performance in this playful, funny and highly inventive show that uses Swift’s biting satire to explore reality and escapism, home and family, and the power of stories to transform our view of the world.

  • Running time = 1 hr 30 mins

  • Suitable for students with a cognitive age of 7+

  • Venue: Unicorn Theatre, 147 Tooley St, London SE1 2HZ

  • Limited wheelchair spaces available

  • Visit the theatre’s website for full Access information

The Snowman

Birmingham Repertory Theatre’s production of The Snowman returns to the Peacock Theatre, the definitive marker of the Christmas season! Combining dance, live music and storytelling, this enchanting spectacle is one for the whole family.

Based on the children’s book by Raymond Briggs, it also includes songs and music from Channel 4’s 1982 film of the same name, including “Walking in the Air”. The story is wordless, told instead through movement. Special effects ensure the sense of magic and spectacle capture the imaginations of the little ones in the audience.

This performance is a specially adapted Relaxed Performance, a less formal theatre experience for those who may be on the autistic spectrum, or have additional sensory and communications needs, offering them a supportive environment to enjoy the show in.

To create this environment, the performance may be adapted in a number of ways including house lights remaining on throughout the performance and sound levels are reduced. There may also be a designated chill out area available to use throughout the performance.

  • Running time: 1 hr 50 mins (including interval)

  • Limited wheelchair spaces are available; this is a Relaxed Performance

  • This production is suitable for students with profound and multiple learning disabilities.

  • Tickets £8
